We have had an ongoing problem were users will be printing fine for a while, then for some reason when they try and print, the "Print" button gets grayed out. When you r emove the printer and try to attach to it you will get a "You don not have permission" error even though that printer is set to let everyone print. Also when you try to add that user to the security settings of the printer, this still does not work.
It looks like it boils down to printer drivers. For some unexplained reason, new or particular versions of a driver causes problems with Citrix.
We have a Windows 2003 server as a print server, 4 Citrix Metaframe 1.8 FR2 servers all running on Windows 2000 servers. Because of the old age of the software and with newer printers arriving on the scene, you have to be very carefull with what drivers you install on the print server. I have had to use older model drivers for more modern printers. Also, what seems to work, use the universal print driver supplied by HP. This may not work in all cases, but its a nice fall back plan if nothing else works.
